Neptunia x SENRAN KAGURA: Ninja Wars Review (PS4)
The Ninja girl beat'em up from Idea Factory: Neptunia x Senran Kagura: Ninja Wars is a great title for fans of either series. It plays like the classic Senran games, with elements of the classic Neptunia games. The story keeps up with it's whimsical Sim like flare, while still following it's usual "I have a purpose" style of story telling. Even though, it was overbearing at times. It's fun. but quickly gets repetitive if you aren't used to the style of dungeon crawling, Neptunia games offer. I feel like a lot of potential was lost when they decided to only include the core characters from both series. Because both have such an extensive cast, it's sad to see 90% of them not included. I guess it leaves room for DLC but who likes that? I had hoped we'd see more movie type cutscenes, but the whole game is sim-like. Which is a shame because both Senran and Hyperdimension have an anime series along with their games. So having live anime scenes would've been possible. While both these series are based around, the overtop sexual nature found in adult anime, the newfound censoring definitely killed that aspect of both Senran and Hyperdimension. Don't expect to be ripping off anyone's clothes like all the other Senran games. There's not even an aspect of super clothing customization that's usually offered in Senran games. Lots of lost potential. Also due to the all foreign spoken dialog, you'll be reading A LOT. Be Prepared. It's not a bad thing, but I did doze off a few times from the excessive story. I love both Hyperdimension Neptunia and Senran Kagura, so I really enjoyed it, overall. but it has its faults.
